Tracy Prose was selected to present the work of Building Arts Workshop at Forward Portland, the 3rd annual AIA Portland panel for entreprenuers and principals on May 4th, 2010. Tracy was one of four panelists, along with Jane Barker, Marianne Zarkin, and Jennifer Jako.
We are wrapping up our most recent project, a major remodel and addition for a home in the NW hills of Portland. With punchlist items, exterior painting and landscaping wrapping up, we have posted some recent images from this project on the Projects page.
We have been invited to present the work of Building Arts Workshop at the HOPES 15 Eco-Design Arts Conference, at the University of Oregon on Saturday, April 4th. ArchiCAD the building information modeling software from Graphisoft, has chosen the Orchid Cityhomes as a case study for their virtual building model software, the cutting edge for documentation and drawing management. This software tool was an instrumental part of the project’s success.
MocoLoco has selected the Orchid Cityhomes as part of their ‘Best MoCo Architecture this Week‘. Mocoloco found this best pick from a recent posting at Jetson Green.
11x Design is a free open house of eleven new buildings designed, financed and developed by local Portland architects and designers. The buildings are in different stages on completion. Building Arts Workshop is pleased to be a part of this tour with the Orchid Cityhomes.

The Root Awards exhibition showcases the winners of Portland Spaces’ inaugural design awards competition, consisting of more than 20 commercial, residential, and institutional works selected by a panel of nationally acclaimed designers and builders. Also on display are the 2008 Design Award winners from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Portland Chapter and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Oregon Chapter, plus the winners of the What Makes It Green? competition, sponsored by the AIA Seattle Committee on the Environment. The opening party is tonight, Thursday, December 4th from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the AIA Portland Center for Architecture, 403 NW 11th Avenue.
We have taken first place in the ‘Building’ category for the Orchid St. Cityhomes in the first annual Root Awards. There were over 200 submissions for 22 categories. We are very excited and feel honored to be included in the company of such great design and construction talent in Portland.
We have learned that the Orchid Cityhomes project has been chosen as a finalist in the first annual Root Awards sponsored by Portland Spaces magazine. The homes were submitted under the ‘Great Building’ category for multi-family housing. The Root Awards Event dinner will reveal the placement of the winners in each category on November 12.
